Makes 🢒 Buick 🢒 2006 🢒 Rendezvous - FWD 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 3.6L 🢒 Cylinder Head Replacement - Left Side

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the powertrain module from the vehicle. Refer to Engine Replacement .
  2. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  3. Remove the left bank secondary timing chain. Refer to Secondary Camshaft Drive Chain Replacement - Left Side .
  4. Remove the oil level indicator. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement .

    5. Object Number: 1394058 Size: SH
  5. Remove the heat shield from the coolant temperature sensor and disconnect the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector.

    6. Important: Do not remove the exhaust crossover pipe.

  6. Disconnect the exhaust crossover pipe from the left bank exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement in Engine Exhaust.

  7. Remove the cylinder head with the exhaust manifold. Refer to Cylinder Head Removal - Right Side .

    8. Object Number: 902814 Size: SH
  8. Remove and discard the cylinder head gasket.
  9. Clean and inspect the cylinder head and the engine block sealing surfaces. Refer to Cylinder Head Cleaning and Inspection and Engine Block Cleaning and Inspection .
  10. If necessary, perform the following steps:
    11. • Remove the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Removal - Left Side .
    • Disassemble the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Disassemble .

Installation Procedure
  1. If necessary, perform the following steps:
    2. • Assemble the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Assemble .
    • Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Installation - Left Side .

  2. Install a NEW cylinder head gasket.

    3. Object Number: 902815 Size: SH
  3. Carefully install the cylinder head with the exhaust manifold to the engine. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation - Left Side .

    4. Important: Do not remove the exhaust crossover pipe.

  4. Connect the exhaust crossover pipe to the left bank exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement in Engine Exhaust.

    5. Object Number: 1394058 Size: SH
  5. Install the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector heat shield.
  6. Install the oil level indicator. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement .
  7. Install the left bank secondary timing chain. Refer to Secondary Camshaft Drive Chain Replacement - Left Side .
  8. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  9. Install the assembled powertrain module to the vehicle. Refer to Engine Replacement .
