Suction Hose Replacement LX9

Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
  2. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  3. Object Number: 826687  Size: SH
  4. Remove the suction hose to evaporator outlet tube bolt.
  5. Disconnect the evaporator outlet tube from the suction hose.
  6. Important: Cap or tape the open A/C hose immediately to prevent system contamination.

  7. Cap or tape off the evaporator outlet tube.

  9. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
  10. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector above the A/C compressor and reposition the wiring harness aside.
  11. Remove the lower air baffle. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors.

  12. Object Number: 791146  Size: SH
  13. Remove the suction hose to compressor nut.
  14. Disconnect the suction hose from the compressor.
  15. Cap or tape off the compressor suction port.
  16. Remove the suction hose.
  17. Remove and discard the sealing washers.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install a new sealing washer onto the compressor end of the suction hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  2. Remove the cap or tape from the compressor suction port.

  3. Object Number: 791146  Size: SH
  4. Connect the suction hose to the compressor.
  5. Install the suction hose to compressor nut.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  7. Connect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
  8. Install the lower air baffle. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Install a new sealing washer at the suction hose to evaporator outlet tube fitting. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  11. Remove the cap or tape from the evaporator outlet tube.

  12. Object Number: 826687  Size: SH
  13. Connect the suction hose to the evaporator outlet tube fitting.
  14. Install the suction hose to evaporator outlet tube bolt.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  16. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
  17. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  18. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
  2. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  3. Object Number: 826687  Size: SH
  4. Remove the suction hose to evaporator outlet tube bolt.
  5. Disconnect the evaporator outlet tube from the suction hose.
  6. Important: Cap or tape the open A/C hose immediately to prevent system contamination.

  7. Cap or tape off the evaporator outlet tube.
  8. Remove the lower air baffle. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors.

  9. Object Number: 1644512  Size: SH
  10. Remove the suction hose to compressor nut.
  11. Disconnect the suction hose from the compressor.
  12. Cap or tape off the compressor suction port.
  13. Remove the suction hose.
  14. Remove and discard the sealing washers.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install a new sealing washer onto the compressor end of the suction hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  2. Remove the cap or tape from the compressor suction port.

  3. Object Number: 791146  Size: SH
  4. Connect the suction hose to the compressor.
  5. Install the suction hose to compressor nut.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  7. Install the lower air baffle. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Install a new sealing washer at the suction hose to evaporator outlet tube fitting. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  10. Remove the cap or tape from the evaporator outlet tube.

  11. Object Number: 826687  Size: SH
  12. Connect the suction hose to the evaporator outlet tube fitting.
  13. Install the suction hose to evaporator outlet tube bolt.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  15. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
  16. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  17. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A
