Removal Procedure
- Release the locking tabs on the lift gate trim panel access panel and remove the access panel.
- Remove the wing nuts from the studs on the lift gate applique.
- Remove the lift gate applique nuts.
- Partially remove the lift gate applique to access the electrical connector.
- Disconnect the lift gate applique electrical connector.
- Remove the lift gate applique.
- Remove the license plate lamp sockets from the lift gate applique.
- Remove the lift gate applique lamp sockets from the lift gate applique.
- Remove the backup lamp sockets and harness from the lift gate applique.
Installation Procedure
- Install the backup lamp sockets and harness to the lift gate applique.
- Install the lift gate applique lamp sockets to the lift gate applique.
- Install the license plate lamp sockets to the lift gate applique.
- Connect the lift gate applique electrical connector.
- Install the lift gate applique to the lift gate.
- Install the lift gate applique nuts.
- Install the wing nuts to the studs on the lift gate applique.
- Hand tighten the wing nuts.
- Install the lift gate trim panel access panel and engage the locking tabs. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement .
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the lift gate applique nuts to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
