ABS / Trac Off Light On After IPC Replacement - keywords cluster IPC part trac UH8

Subject:ABS/Trac Off Light On After IPC Replacement

Models:Some Buick Rendezvous customers may report an ABS/Trac off light illuminated after the UH8 IPC was replaced on vehicle's NOT equipped with ABS (Antilock Brake System) RPO JL9.


This PI was superseded to update model years. Please discard PIT3558C.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some Buick Rendezvous customers may report an ABS/Trac off light illuminated after the UH8 IPC was replaced on vehicle's NOT equipped with ABS (Antilock Brake System) RPO JL9.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The dealer will need to contact their local Authorized Electronic Service Center for another exchange cluster. Prior to installing the new cluster the steps listed below must be followed or the unit WILL BE damaged.

  1. Disconnect the battery and touch the battery cables together.
  2. Remove all fuses marked ABS from the UBEC. (refer to pages 5-104 and/or 5-106 of the owners manual).
  3. Installed the new cluster.
  4. Reconnect battery cables.
  5. Turn the ignition on and allow the cluster to go through the relearn procedure.
  6. Cycle the ignition to off and open the drivers door to cancel the retained accessory power.
  7. Reinstall the ABS fuses, cycle the key to run and verify the repair.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
