Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  3. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  4. Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  5. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .
  6. Remove the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 1798597  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose fitting from the power steering pump. Discard the O-ring seal.

  9. Object Number: 1798366  Size: SH
  10. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose from the routing clip.

  11. Object Number: 1797822  Size: SH
  12. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose fitting from the power steering gear. Discard the O-ring seal.
  13. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose into the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1797822  Size: SH
  3. Using a NEW O-ring seal, connect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose fitting to the power steering gear.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  5. Using a NEW O-ring seal, connect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose fitting to the power steering pump.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  7. Connect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose to the routing clip.
  8. Install the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement .
  9. Install the right front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .
  12. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  13. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  14. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
  15. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
