DIESEL INJ. NOZZLES TEST PROCEDURE

OLDSMOBILE DEALER TECHNICAL BULLETIN 80-T-18A COVERS THE LATEST NOZZLE TESTING PROCEDURES. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT THE HANDLE ON THE TEST EQUIPMENT BE OPERATED SLOWLY, AT A RATE OF APPROXIMATELY 30 STROKES PER MINUTE. WHEN OPERATED TOO FAST, THE FUEL WILL NOT ATOMIZE CAUSING INCORRECT NOZZLE DIAGNOSIS. NOZZLES WHICH HAVE BEEN REMOVED BECAUSE THERE IS A VARIATION IN POP OFF PRESSURES OR WHICH LEAK COMPRESSION GASES MUST BE TESTED IN A NOZZLE TESTER. THOSE NOZZLES WHICH TEST SATISFACTORY ARE TO BE REUSED IN ANOTHER DIESEL ENGINE. OLDSMOBILE RECOMMENDS THAT A DIESEL INJECTION NOZZLE TESTER BE AVAILABLE IN EACH OLDSMOBILE DEALERSHIP.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
