REAR COMPARTMENT LID HINGE BINDING HINGE ARM TO HINGE BOX

A binding condition on rear compartment lid hinges may be encountered on certain 1983 Rivieras equipped with torque rods. The bind can often be found between the hinge arm and the hinge box on right and/or lift sides as indicated in Figure 1. This condition may be confused with weak torque rods.

Correct this condition by prying the hinge arm away from the hinge box as shown in illustration. Apply a heavy lube to surfaces.
