BEGINNING WITH THE 1983 MODEL START OF PRODUCTION, ALL THM 325-4L TRANSMISSIONS WERE PRODUCED USING TWO VALVE TRAIN RETAINING CLIPS IN THE CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY. THE PURPOSE OF THESE RETAINING CLIPS IS TO HOLD THE VALVE COMPONENTS TOGETHER AS A COMPLETE UNIT, FOR EASE OF ASSEMBLY INTO THE CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY. THE RETAINING SLIPS ARE LOCATED IN THE THIRD SLOT OF THE 2-3 AND 3-4 THROTTLE VALVE BUSHINGS. (FIGURE 1 AND 2). WHEN SERVICING ANY THM 325-4L TRANSMISSIONS, THAT NECESSITATES DISASSEMBLY OF THE CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY, IT IS HELPFUL, BUT NOT NECESSARY TO REUSE THE RETAINING CLIPS IN THE 2-3 AND 3-4 THROTTLE VALVE ASSEMBLIES.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
