Some 1986 Riviera T-Types with Option UT7, Delco Bose Radio, can exhibit an objectionable "pop" in the Bose speakers when a power seat switch is activated.
A seat suppression jumper, Part No. 20703379, and strap, Part No. 3816659, will correct this condition and are now available from GMWDD. Two suppression jumpers and two straps are required on each vehicle that exhibits this condition. The following procedure should be followed when installing the jumper and strap:
1. Run both driver and passenger seats to their full forward positions.
2. With the ignition "off", disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Working from behind the driver's seat, disconnect the power feed (see illustration, two-way connector with black and orange/black wires) for the seat motor.
4. Install the suppression jumper and strap the harness to the adjuster cable as per the illustration.
5. Repeat the procedure for the passenger seat.
6. Reconnect the battery.
7. Return the seats to their normal positions.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
