A/C COMPRESSOR REPLACEMENT SYSTEM FILLER DESCRIBED

AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE

Vehicles Affected: 1988 ELDORADO AND SEVILLE -----------------

All 1988 Eldorados and Sevilles are equipped with a refrigerant system filter within the compressor hose assembly muffler, Figure 1. The new hose assembly can be identified by the indentations in the muffler. This filter eliminates the need to flush the A/C system after a compressor failure.

When replacing a compressor on a 1988 Eldorado or Seville:

1. Replace the compressor hose assembly (P/N 1640410).

2. Inspect the orifice tube for debris and if necessary clean or replace it. If in the unlikely event a screen on the oriface tube is ripped, the evaporator core, condenser and orifice tube must also be replaced.
