Some 1988-1990 Reattas may exhibit a condition of slow air leak at a wheel weight. To determine if a tire is leaking at the wheel weight, use the following procedure:
1. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
2. Inflate tire and wheel assembly to 276kpa (40psi).
3. Dip assembly into water bath to locate leaking.
4. If there is a slow leak at the wheel weight area, remove the weights and clean the rim flange.
5. Recheck tire/wheel assembly for leaks.
6. If okay, rebalance the wheel with an adequate amount of adhesive wheel weights (part number 14080297).
7. If the tire still leaks, index the tire 180 degrees, rebalance and check for leaks.
If the leak is due to porosity of the wheel, follow the procedure listed in the Chassis Service Manual.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
