Some 1990 Reatta convertibles may experience a condition of the convertible top being difficult to latch in the rear. To repair this condition use the following service procedure:
1. Pull back headliner in sail panel area of top to expose the #4 bow adjustment screws. Refer to Figure 1.
2. Loosen the four adjustment screws and lower #4 bow to bottom of slots to relieve excessive top tension.
Slots may be elongated as much as twice their original length to provide additional adjustment.
3. Adjust #4 bow upward until top wrinkles and sags are minimized.
4. Tighten the four adjustment screws.
5. Re-center #5 bow latch pins using J-38842 centering tool. Place tool in tonneau bezel, loosen #5 bow pin locking nuts, and lower #5 bow until pins engage tool. Tighten pin locking nuts.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
