Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement VIN K

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Drain the coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling the Coolant System in Engine Cooling.
  3. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  4. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  5. Remove the heater hoses. Refer to Heater Hoses Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  7. Remove the tensioner bolts.
  8. Remove the tensioner.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 36693  Size: SH
  1. Install the tensioner.
  2. Install the tensioner bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the heater hoses. Refer to Heater Hoses Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  5. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  6. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  7. Refill the coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling the Coolant System in Engine Cooling.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.

  2. Raise the vehicle. Suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Section 0A.
  3. Remove the front lower splash shield.
  4. Drain the coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling the Coolant System in Engine Cooling.
  5. Close the radiator drain cock. Install the front splash shield.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  8. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  9. Disconnect the heater hoses from the tensioner.

  11. Remove the drive belt tensioner bolts.
  12. Remove the tensioner.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the tensioner.
  2. Install the tensioner bolts.
  3. Tighten

  8. Connect the negative battery cable.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the supercharger belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  2. Remove the ignition module.

  3. Object Number: 36693  Size: SH
  4. Remove the tensioner bolts.
  5. Remove the tensioner.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 36693  Size: SH
  1. Install the tensioner.
  2. Install the tensioner bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50 N·mN·m (37 lb ft).
