EXHAUST BUZZ NOISE FROM I/P ON ACCELERATION

THIS IS A MONTHLY SERVICE NEWSLETTER ARTICLE THIS INFORMATION IS NOT INTENDED TO BE A PUBLISHED BULLETIN

CONDITION:

A BUZZ/WHINE/WHIRRING TYPE NOISE EMANATING FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ON ACCELERATION.

CAUSE:

NOISE MAY BE CAUSED BY AN IMPROPERLY INSTALLED SHIFT CABLE GROMMET AT THE COWL.

CORRECTION:

TO CHECK FOR THIS, LOOK ABOVE AND TO THE RIGHT OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO SEE IF THE SHIFT CABLE GROMMET IS INSTALLED CORRECTLY. THE GROMMET HAS A RUBBER FLAP COVERING IT AND A LIGHT MAY BE NECESSARY TO VERIFY THAT THE FLAP IS IN FULL CONTACT WITH THE COWL AND HAS NO BULGES IN IT. THE GROMMET BENEATH THE RUBBER FLAP HAS TWO LIP SEALS ON IT AND IS BARREL SHAPED. ONE LIP SEAL GOES ON THE OUTSIDE OF COWL AND THE OTHER SEALS ON THE INSIDE OF THE COWL. IF A BULGE IS EVIDENT IN THE RUBBER FLAP, THEN ONE OR BOTH OF THE SEALS ARE NOT SEATED CORRECTLY. REMOVE THE GROMMET AND INSTALL IT CORRECTLY.
