Did you perform the Instrument Cluster System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  2. Use the scan tool instrument panel cluster (IPC) function in order to read the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

Does the scan tool display the specified DTC?

Oil pressure sensor circuit (DTC B0091)

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor.
  3. Connect 2 RED leads from the J 33431-C tester to terminal A (TAN/BLK) and terminal B (BLK).
  4. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  5. Use the scan tool IPC data list. Select OIL PRESSURE.
  6. Set the tester resistance to 0 ohms (0 PSI).

Is the scan tool display less than the specified value?

2 PSI

Go to Step 4

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor.
  3. Connect 2 RED leads from the J 33431-C tester to terminal A (TAN/BLK) and terminal B (BLK).
  4. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  5. Use the scan tool IPC data list. Select OIL PRESSURE.
  6. Set the tester resistance to open circuit.

Is the scan tool display within the specified range?

2-6 PSI

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor/switch connector.
  3. Connect a fused jumper from the oil pressure sensor/switch harness connector terminal A (TAN) to ground.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.

Does the low oil pressure indicator light?

Inspect CKT 231 (TAN/BLK) for an open.

Is the circuit OK?

--

Inspect for proper terminal contact at the following terminals:

  1. The in-line connector C101 terminal E5
  2. The instrument cluster connector C2 terminal A2

Are the contacts OK?

Inspect CKT 651 (BLK) for an open.

Is the circuit OK?

Inspect for proper terminal contact at the following terminals:

  1. The in-line connector C101 terminal C4
  2. The oil pressure sensor/switch connector terminal A and terminal B

Are the contacts OK?

  1. Inspect CKT 231 (TAN/BLK) for a short to ground or an open.
  2. Inspect CKT 651 (BLK) for an open or high resistance.

Are the circuits OK?

  1. The in-line connector C101 terminal C4 and terminal E5
  2. The instrument cluster connector C2 terminal A2 and connector 1 terminal F16

  2. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor.
  3. Connect 2 RED leads from the J 33431-C tester to terminal A (TAN/BLK) and terminal B (BLK).
  4. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  5. Use the scan tool IPC data list. Select OIL PRESSURE.
  6. Set the tester resistance to 0 ohms (0 PSI).

Does the scan tool display match the specified values?

0 PSI

Go to Step 4

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor.
  3. Connect 2 RED leads from the J 33431-C tester to terminal A (TAN/BLK) and terminal B (BLK).
  4. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  5. Use the scan tool IPC data list. Select OIL PRESSURE.
  6. Set the tester resistance to 85 ohms (120 PSI).

Does the scan tool display match the specified values?

120 PSI

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF
  2. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor/switch connector.
  3. Connect a fused jumper from the oil pressure sensor/switch harness connector terminal A (TAN) to ground.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.

Does the low oil pressure indicator light?
