Did you perform the Instrument Cluster System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector C1.
  3. Turn the headlamp switch to PARK or HEAD.
  4. Turn the dimmer control to LO.
  5. Using a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM), measure the voltage from the instrument cluster connector C1 terminal F5 to ground.

Does the voltage equal the specified value?

12 V

Go to Step 4

Inspect CKT 390 (YEL) for an open or short to ground.

Is the wiring OK?

  1. Adjust the dimmer control.
  2. At the same time, measure the voltage from the instrument cluster connector C1 terminal F4 (GRY) to ground.

Does the voltage vary with the dimmer control?

Go to Step 6

  1. Connect the dimmer module connector.
  2. Adjust the dimmer control.
  3. At the same time, backprobe the dimmer module connector.
  4. Measure the voltage from terminal C to ground.

Does the voltage vary with the dimmer control?

Inspect the instrument cluster connector C1 terminal F4 and terminal F5 for proper terminal contact.

Is the contact OK?

Inspect CKT 8 (GRY) for an open or short to ground.

  2. Adjust the dimmer control.
  3. At the same time, backprobe the dimmer module connector.
  4. Measure the voltage from terminal C to ground.

Inspect the instrument cluster connector C1 terminal C7 and terminal D11 for proper terminal contact.
