Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 49594  Size: SH
  1. Remove the fuel injection sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 178680  Size: SH
  3. Remove the TP (Throttle Position) sensor electrical connector from the TP sensor.

  4. Object Number: 178693  Size: SH
  5. Remove the two TP sensor attaching screws from the throttle body.

  6. Object Number: 178694  Size: SH
  7. Remove the TP sensor from the throttle body.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 178694  Size: SH
  1. With the throttle valve in the normal closed position, install the TP sensor in to the throttle body assembly.

  2. Object Number: 178693  Size: SH
  3. Apply thread-locking compound on the screws. Loctite 262®, GM P/N 1052624, or equivalent should be used.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the two TP sensor attaching screws.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the TP sensor attaching screws to 2 N·m (18  lb in).

  7. Install the TP sensor electrical connector to the TP sensor.

  8. Object Number: 49594  Size: SH
  9. Install the fuel injection sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel injection sight shield to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
