Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 29800 Cut-Off Tool.

  1. Remove the oxygen sensor. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Sensor 2 in Engine Controls.
  2. Support the catalytic converter.

  3. Object Number: 43556  Size: SH
  4. Use the J 29800 in order to cut (1) the exhaust pipe (2).

  5. Object Number: 119821  Size: SH
  6. Remove the front exhaust pipe nuts.
  7. Remove the seal.
  8. Remove the catalytic converter assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 119821  Size: SH
  1. Install the catalytic converter
  2. Install the catalytic converter to exhaust down pipe.
  3. Install the seal.

  4. Object Number: 43552  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the intermediate catalytic converter to the intermediate pipe.
  6. Tighten

        • Tighten the front exhaust pipe to the catalytic converter nuts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
        • Tighten the clamp nuts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
  7. Install the oxygen sensor. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Sensor 2 in Engine Controls.
