Parking Brake Cable Replacement Front Cable

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 106200  Size: SH
  1. Pull the edge of the drivers side carpet back enough in order to access the grommet.
  2. Remove the grommet from the floor pan.
  3. Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  4. Object Number: 106181  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the front cable housing (2) from the intermediate cable (1) at the cable clip.
  6. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  7. Disconnect the cable from the lever assembly.
  8. Remove the parking brake front cable assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the front parking brake cable assembly in the vehicle.
  2. Connect the cable to the lever assembly.
  3. Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  4. Object Number: 106181  Size: SH
  5. Connect the front cable housing (2) to the intermediate cable (1) at the cable clip.
  6. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  7. Object Number: 106200  Size: SH
  8. Seat the grommet in the floor pan.
  9. Install carpet into place.
  10. Adjust the parking brake cable. Refer to Cable Service/Adjustment .

Parking Brake Cable Replacement Intermediate Cable

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 106181  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Disconnect the intermediate parking brake cable (1) from the cable clip (2).
  3. Disconnect intermediate cable housing from the cable retaining bracket.

  4. Object Number: 106224  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the intermediate cable (3) from the rear equalizer (1).
  6. Disconnect the intermediate cable housing from the rear cable housing retaining bracket.
  7. Remove the intermediate cable.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 106224  Size: SH
  1. Route and install the intermediate parking cable into brake cable retaining brackets.
  2. Connect the left (2) and right (5) rear parking brake cables to the intermediate cable (3), using equalizer (1).

  3. Object Number: 106181  Size: SH
  4. Insert the intermediate cable (1) into the cable retaining bracket and lock the cable into place.
  5. Connect front of the intermediate cable (1) to the front cable using the connecting clip.
  6. Adjust the parking brake cable. Refer to Cable Service/Adjustment .

Parking Brake Cable Replacement Rear Cable

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 106224  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Back off the adjuster nut in order to release cable tension.
  3. Disconnect the right and the left rear parking brake cables from the rear equalizer.
  4. Remove the conduit fitting from the bracket by depressing the conduit fitting retaining tangs.
  5. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  6. Object Number: 106213  Size: SH
  7. Remove right and left cable retainer bolts (3).

  8. Object Number: 106206  Size: SH
  9. Disconnect the right and the left parking brake cable (1) from the parking brake levers. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  10. Remove the right and the left cable from the caliper support brackets by depressing the conduit fitting retaining tangs.
  11. Remove the parking brake rear cables.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 106224  Size: SH
  1. Position the right and the left rear parking brake cable to the vehicle.
  2. Install the conduit fitting to the bracket by snapping into place.
  3. Connect the cables to the equalizer.

  4. Object Number: 106213  Size: SH
  5. Install the right and the left cable retainer bolts (3).

  6. Object Number: 106206  Size: SH
  7. Install the right and the left cables to the caliper support brackets by snapping into place.
  8. Connect the parking brake cables (1) to the parking brake levers. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  9. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  10. Adjust parking brake cable.
