Perform the Driver Information System Check before processing.

Is the system check complete?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the heater and A/C control connector.
  3. Turn the headlamp switch to PARK or HEAD.
  4. Turn the dimmer control to LO.
  5. Measure the voltage from the heater and A/C control connector terminal A2 (BRN) to ground.

Does the measured voltage equal the specified value?

  1. Adjust the dimmer control.
  2. At the same time, measure the voltage from the heater and A/C control connector terminal A2 (BRN) to ground.

Does the voltage vary with the dimmer control?

Go to Step 5

  1. Connect the dimmer module connector.
  2. Adjust the dimmer control.
  3. At the same time, backprobe the dimmer module connector. Measure the voltage from terminal C to ground.

Does the voltage vary with the dimmer control?

Inspect the heater and A/C control connector terminal A2 for proper terminal contact.

Is the contact OK?

Go to Step 7

Inspect CKT 1244 (BRN) for an open or a short to ground.

Is the wiring OK

Replace the instrument cluster.

Is the repair complete?
