DIRT BUILD-UP ON ROCKER AND LOWER INBOARD DOOR SURFACE

SUBJECT: DIRT BUILD-UP ON ROCKER AND LOWER INBOARD DOOR SURFACE

MODELS: 1992-94 BUICK ROADMASTER 1992-94 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD 1991-94 CHEVROLET CAPRICE 1991-92 OLDSMOBILE CUSTOM CRUISER

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS MAY EXPRESS DISSATISFACTION WITH MUD COLLECTED ALONG INSIDE BOTTOM OF FRONT DOOR AND ROCKER.

CORRECTION:

INSTALL NEW FOAM SEAL, P/N 10249066, (WHEN ORDERING TWO (2) PIECES ARE REQUIRED), ONE FOR LEFT HAND FRONT DOOR AND ONE FOR RIGHT HAND FRONT DOOR. FOLLOW PROCEDURES LISTED BELOW FOR INSTALLATION:

1. WITH THE FRONT DOORS FULLY OPEN, CLEAN THE INSIDE DOOR SURFACE JUST FORWARD OF THE FRONT INBOARD DRAIN HOLE USING ONE OF THE FOLLOWING ADHESIVE CLEANERS:

3M*: GENERAL PURPOSE ADHESIVE CLEANER P/N 08984 AMERICAN SURE SEAL*: URETHANE CLEANER P/N CUSH KENT*: ACRYSOL 20005

2. AFTER CLEANING WITH ABOVE, WIPE CLEAN WITH 50/50 SOLUTION OF ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL AND WATER.

3. SURFACE SHOULD BE 65 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT (18 DEGREES CELSIUS) OR HIGHER.

4. REMOVE PROTECTIVE BACKING FROM FOAM SEAL P/N 10249066.

5. ALIGN THE FOAM SEAL VERTICALLY TO THE FRONT LOWER DOOR SURFACE AND INSTALL IT JUST FORWARD OF THE FRONT DRAIN HOLE. (SEE ILLUSTRATION.) AFTER INSTALLATION, PRESS SEAL FIRMLY TO FULLY SEAT THE SEAL TO THE DOOR.

NOTE: IN SOME CASES IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO ADJUST THE DOOR INBOARD SO THAT THE LOWER AUXILIARY CONTACTS THE ROCKER.
