COSMETIC CORROSION STAINING FROM FENDER SHIMS (NEW P/N)

SUBJECT: COSMETIC CORROSION STAINING FROM FENDER SHIMS (NEW SHIMS AVAILABLE) ARLINGTON BUILT VEHICLES ONLY

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1991-92 'B' CAR

CONDITION:

---------- Some customers of 1991-92 B cars (built in Arlington only) may comment about rust staining coming from the fender shims or hood hinge to hood shims.

CAUSE:

------ Coating for corrosion protection on the shims was insufficient.

CORRECTION:

----------- After cleaning the rust stain from painted surfaces, replace the shims at the following locations:

1. Fender to upper door hinge. 2. Fender to cowl (under hood seal). 3. Hood hinge to hood outer flange.

New shims with "black" finish for use at the fender attachments have the following part numbers:

- 10196151 Shim, 1.3 mm thick - 10196152 Shim, 2.6 mm thick

Use existing GM# 14047730 ("bright" finish) shim at the hood to hinge location.

For vehicles being repaired under warranty use: .3 Hours.
