STEERING WHEEL RETURNABILITY (RPL. POWER STEERING GEAR

SUBJECT: STEERING WHEEL RETURNABILITY (REPLACE POWER STEERING GEAR VALVE ASSEMBLY)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1992-93 "B"-MODEL AND 1993" D"-MODEL WITH RPO NV7

CONDITION:

--------- Some customers may comment on slower steering wheel returnability particularly during a low speed turning maneuver on 1992-93 B-cars and 1993 D-cars with variable effort steering (RPO NV7).

CAUSE:

----- Low system steering effort requirements at slow speed and off-centre mass distribution of the steering wheel with SIR (Supplemental Inflatable Restraint).

CORRECTION:

---------- 1992-93 B-Cars:

Replace existing power steering gear valve assembly with new assembly P/N 26042103 and the existing power steering pump actuator and fitting assembly with new assembly P/N 26027975.

1993 D-Cars:

Replace existing power steering gear valve assembly with new assembly P/N 26042103.

In the case of either vehicle model, follow applicable Service Manual procedures in Section 3B and 3B1, Power Steering Gear and Pump.

For vehicles repaired under warranty use:

Labour Time: CADILLAC 2.6 Hours

Labour Time BUICK 2.3 Hours
