DCS MESSAGE
COMMENTS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED FROM OWNERS OF 1991 AND 1992 ROADMASTERS CONCERNING THE USE OF TIRE CHAINS. ALL 1991 AND 1992 ROADMASTERS EQUIPPED WITH TIRES AS INSTALLED AT THE TIME OF ASSEMBLY MAY BE USED WITH TIRE CHAINS. AS ALWAYS, USE TIRE CHAINS ONLY WHEN YOU MUST. USE ONLY SAE CLASS "S" TYPE CHAINS THAT ARE THE PROPER SIZE FOR YOUR TIRES. TIGHTEN THEM AS TIGHTLY AS POSSIBLE WITH THE ENDS SECURELY FASTENED. DRIVE SLOWLY AND FOLLOW THE CHAIN MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS. IF YOU HEAR THE CHAINS CONTACTING YOUR VEHICLE, STOP AND RETIGHTEN THEM. IF THE CONTACT CONTINUES, SLOW DOWN UNTIL IT STOPS. DRIVING TOO FAST WITH CHAINS ON WILL DAMAGE THE VEHICLE. NEW EDITIONS OF THE RESPECTIVE OWNER MANUALS WILL REFLECT THIS CHANGE.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
