TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH CONNECTOR STUCK (REM. SWITCH

SUBJECT: TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH CONNECTOR STUCK (REMOVE SWITCH FROM TRANSMISSION PRIOR TO REMOVING TRANSMISSION FROM THE VEHICLE)

MODELS: 1995-96 BUICK ROADMASTER WITH 4L60E TRANSMISSION

CONDITION:

WHEN REMOVING A TRANSMISSION FOR SERVICE AND THE CONNECTOR IS STUCK ON THE TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH AND CANNOT BE REMOVED.

CAUSE:

THE CONNECTOR AND SWITCH MAY HAVE BECOME PERMANENTLY SEALED TOGETHER DUE TO HARDENING OF THE DIELECTRIC LUBRICANT.

CORRECTION:

PRIOR TO PERFORMING ANY TRANSMISSION REMOVAL, REMOVE THE SWITCH FROM THE TRANSMISSION LEAVING THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR ATTACHED TO THE SWITCH. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE SWITCH OR CONNECTOR.
