PASSENGER SEAT E-Z ENTRY FEATURE/OPERATION PROCEDURE

A NEW PASSENGER SEAT, E-Z ENTRY (STRAIGHT TRACK) ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY SYSTEM WAS INTRODUCED ON THE ABOVE STYLE IN JANUARY OF 1982. THE NEW SYSTEM HAS THE ADJUSTER RELEASE LEVER LOCATED ON THE OUTER ADJUSTER. THE INNER ADJUSTER ACTS AS A SLAVE UNIT. WHEN ENTERING THE REAR SEATING AREA THE FORWARD MOVEMENT OF THE SEAT BACK TRIPS A CABLE WHICH RELEASES A LOCK BAR ON THE ADJUSTER ALLOWING THE SEAT TO MOVE FORWARD PROVIDING MORE ROOM FOR PASSENGER ENTRY INTO THE REAR SEAT. TO RETURN THE SEAT TO THE ORIGINAL POSITION, REARWARD PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO THE TOP OF THE SEAT BACK. THE SEAT WILL MOVE REARWARD UNTIL THE E-Z ENTRY LOCK FEATURE ENGAGES. NORMAL SEAT ADJUSTER TRAVEL IS 180 MM (7") FROM THE FULL REAR TO FULL FORWARD. THE E-Z ENTRY ADJUSTER TRAVEL IS 140 MM (5 1/2") WHEN SEAT IS IN THE FULL REAR POSITION. TO SERVICE THE E-Z ENTRY PASSENGER SEAT ADJUSTER CABLE ASSEMBLY, FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED BELOW: REMOVAL 1.REMOVE THE LOWER RECLINER CONTROL COVER. 2.DISENGAGE THE CABLE END COUPLING FROM THE CABLE SUPPORT (SEE ILLUSTRATION). 3.REMOVE THE LOCK BAR SPRING AND PIVOT THE LOCK BAR OUTWARD; THEN DISENGAGE THE CABLE TERMINAL END FROM THE LOCK BAR. 4.DEPRESS THE CABLE BUSHING RETAINING TABS AND REMOVE THE BUSHING. 5.REMOVE THE CABLE AND CABLE PLUNGER FROM THE SUPPORT. 6.REMOVE THE CABLE PLUNGER FROM THE CABLE. INSTALLATION 1.INSERT THE UPPER END OF THE CABLE THROUGH THE HOLE IN THE CONTROL CABLE SUPPORT AND PLACE THE CABLE IN THE SUPPORT SLOT. 2.INSERT THE CABLE PLUNGER THROUGH THE CABLE SUPPORT HOLE AND INSTALL THE CABLE CASING INTO THE PLUNGER. 3.PLACE THE BUSHING OVER THE PLUNGER WITH THE BUSHING FLANGE NOTCH IN LINE WITH THE CABLE AND SNAP THE BUSHING INTO THE CONTROL ASSEMBLY SUPPORT. 4.SNAP THE CABLE END COUPLING INTO THE LOWER CHANNEL CABLE SUPPORT. 5.PIVOT THE LOCK BAR OUTWARD, INSTALL THE CABLE TERMINAL INTO THE LOCK BAR HOLE AND PUSH UPWARD TO LOCK IN THE TERMINAL END. 6.ENGAGE THE LOCK BAR TAB INTO THE ADJUSTER CHANNEL AND INSTALL THE LOCK BAR SPRING. 7.INSTALL THE LOWER RECLINER CONTROL COVER. 8.CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE SEAT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY FOR PROPER MOVEMENT AND ADJUSTMENT AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.
