1. WARRANTY AND OWNER ASSISTANCE ON 1986 BUICK NEW CARS ------------------------------------------------------- The following booklets containing warranty information relative to the new car, emission systems, tire and corrosion are used in 1986:

Part #25524019 - Riviera Part #25527756 - Electra and Park Avenue FWD Part #25521843 - Somerset/Skylark (Built Prior to September 23, 1985)

Part #25527716 - All Except Riviera, Electra/Park Avenue FWD and Somerset/Skylark (Built Prior to September 23, 1985) (Can be and may have been used in place of 25521843 for Somerset/Skylark built prior to September 23, 1985)

Part #25528305 - All Except Riviera & Electra/Park Avenue FWD (Replaces 25521843 & 25527716 on cars built after September 23, 1983, and may be used for cars built prior to September 23, 1985)

Owner assistance satisfaction procedures, the mediation/arbitration prograrm, special policy adjustment prograrns, and the GM Continuous Protection Plan are all outlined in this booklet. A separate tire warranty folder is included to outline warranty as provided by individual tire manufacturers.

The owner's name, address, Vehicle Identification Number, date of delivery and mileage at the time of delivery, are all to be typed on the front cover of the Warranty and Owner Assistance Information booklet in the space provided. There is a space provided on the back of the folder for the dealer name, address and dealer code.

It is very important that the Owner and Vehicle Information on the booklet be correct. This information will be the only means of owner identification for repairs covered under warranty. In order for dealer warranty claims to be properly processed, the Vehicle Identification Number must be correct. Owners should be instructed to carry their Warranty and Owner Assistance Information Booklets in their vehicles at all times.

2. 1986 SERVICE MANUALS ----------------------- The 1986 Chassis Service Manual will be shipped to all Buick dealers in early September, 1985. Again for 1986 it is a loose-leaf publication in two volumes, covering all models.

Post type binders will be included with each manual.

1986 Fisher Body Manual will be shipped in mid-September, 1985.

Additional manuals and/or binders can be ordered on the "Service Publications for Buick Dealers" order form which is included with the Chassis Service manual shipment.

3. 1986 OWNER'S MANUALS ----------------------- For 1986 there are a total of eight (8) owner's manuals.

Part # 25524011 - Century Part # 25524811 - LeSabre Estate Wagon/Electra Estate Wagon Part # 25524016 - Electra/Park Avenue Part # 25528093 - Riviera (Replaces - 25521462 used on early built cars) Part # 25524012 - Regal Part # 25520381 - LeSabre Part # 25524013 - Skyhawk Part # 25523809 - Somerset/Skylark

For Electra/Park Avenue the suede finish wallet, part nunber 25518866 has been discontinued.

4. 1986 VEHICLE CERTIFICATION AND TIRE PRESSURE LABEL ----------------------------------------------------- In accordance with Federal Motor Vehicle Regulations, A Vehicle Certification and Tire Pressure Label is being affixed to all 1986 model Buicks.

The label will have a certification statement, Vehicle Identification Number, month and year that the vehicle was built. The label will be attached horizontally to the left front door inner panel lock facing on all models.

The lower portion of the label will have the tire size and tire pressure information.

Due to the ceritification label's location, it may be subject to damage during car shipment and new vehicle pre-delivery service or may be required due to door repair or replacement.

To acquire a replacement certification label, proceed as follows:

A. Obtain an impression of the Vehicle Identification Number on the engine block by rubbing a pencil lightly over a piece of paper held in place against the block.

B. Obtain build date, if at all possible, from damaged certification label.

C. Check Vehicle Identification Number on engine block and identification number on instrument panel to see that they match.

D. Obtain the vehicle order number from invoice.

E. Send the readable impression and build date from Steps A and B above and the vehicle order number taken from the invoice, along with a letter of explanantion to:

5. 1986 NEW VEHICLE INSPECTION PROCEDURE FORM ---------------------------------------------

The New Vehicle Inspection and Delivery Procedure which was introduced in 1983, includes a new NVI for 1986. Use New Vehicle Inspection Procedure Sheet 101072. This form is shipped with each Buick delivered to you. Additional forms may be obtained through your Zone Office.

6. 1986 MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE ---------------------------- For 1986 there is one (1) vehicle maintenance booklet for all cars, part number 14085242.

7. 1986 LABOR TIME GUIDE - MICROPUBLICATIONS UPDATE AND REQUEST FOR REVIEW FORMS

Approximately September 16, 1985, one (1) set of micropublications will be mailed to all dealers, each set will consist of the following material:

o Labor Time Guide - 1986 (2)

o Dealer Technical Bulletin Update - October 1983-August 1984 (1)

o Dealer Information Bulletin Update - October 1983-August 1984 (3)

o Dealer Service Bulletin Update - All 1984 (1)

o Dealer Campaign Bulletin Update - October 1983-August 1984 (2)

o Essential/Available Tool Catalog Update - 1984 (1)

o Chassis Service Mamual - 1984 (1)

Additional quantities, if previously ordered, will be supplied, based upon records on file at time of mailing. All requests for additional microfiche sets are to be processed directly thru GM Photographic. Additional order forms are available from your Zone Office.

Labor Time Guide - All claims processed on the date of receipt or after will be processed on the basis of operations and labor time allowances provided.

Printed Labor Time Guide

The 1986 Labor Time Guide is available in printed format. This loose leaf publication can be ordered on the "Service Publications for Buick Dealers" order form. Binders are now also available. Printed Labor Time Guides will automatically be sent to dealers who have previously ordered on a continuing basis.

8. 1986 BUICK BULLETIN BINDERS ------------------------------- Orders for binders and index tabs should be sent directly to Buick Motor Division in care of Office Service Department, as shown on the order form included with this Bulletin. Binders can also be ordered using the "Service Publication for Buick Dealers" order form.

9. 1986 PAINT CODES ------------------- Color chip sheets for the 1985 Buick Paints will again be available from DuPont, Ditzler, Inmont (Rinshed-Mason), Sherwin Williams, Acme/Rogers and Martin-Senour.

The following chart indicates 1986 exterior paint supplier stock number, the Fisher WA numbers and vehicles the paint is used on. The paint numbers listed in this bulletin along with clearcoat materials, are or soon will be available from local paint suppliers. Please note that the Service Parts Label includes paint information.

When contacting your local paint supplier for repair materials, make sure that you specify the type of material needed. If your paint supplier is unable to provide you with the material needed, ask him to contact his manufacturer sales representative for assistance.

NOTICE: All 1986 Centurys built at the Oklahoma City Assembly Center (plant code 6) will be basecoat/clearcoat although paint codes shown are lacquer codes. Formulation of some of these paints will be specific. Work is in process to determine which colors need specific formulation. A bulletin with this information will be released as soon as paint refinish information is available.
