SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE-SEC.6E2 REVISED TPS SPECIFICATIONS

MODELS AFFECTED: 1987, 1988, AND 1989 SKYHAWK MODELS WITH 2.0L ENGINE (VIN CODE 1)

This bulletin serves to update the acceptable TPS Voltage Range currently being used in Section 6E2 "Driveability and Emissions" of the 1987-1989 2.0L (VIN 1) Skyhawk Service Manuals. Presently, the specification is .45V to 1.25V.

The new specification has now been revised to .33V to 1.33V. A TPS whose voltage falls outside this new specification at closed throttle should, after checking connections, be replaced.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
