OIL PRESSURE GAUGE READS LOW (MAYBE INCORRECT GAUGE)

MODELS AFFECTED: 1987 SKYHAWKS WITH U14 OR U21 GAGE PACKAGE

Some 1987 Buick Skyhawks equipped with gage packages may exhibit a condition where the oil pressure gage reads low pressure, especially when the engine is idling at low speed when fully warmed up.

This condition may be caused by an oil pressure/volts gage in the instrument panel which is different than the gage required for use with the new oil pressure sender put into production on 1987 models. Refer to illustration.

When this condition is encountered, the oil pressure/volts gage should be replaced using the following new part numbers:

Old Part Number New Part Number --------------- --------------- 25059159 25089865 25059133 25089866 25026120 25089867 25026409 25089868 25026396 25089869 25026400 25089870

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
