Some 1987-88 Buicks may exhibit a slight lead/pull condition when the steering wheel is re.turned to a neutral or straight ahead position after completion of a turning maneuver. This condition is always noted as being in the direction of the last turning maneuver (right turn - lead/pull right, left turn - lead/pull left), and may vary in degree right to left. This occurs with the driver's hands off the steering wheel.
This lead/pull may be attributable to front spring windup caused by front strut mount(s) assembled with bearings exhibiting high frictional characteristics.
Vehicles exhibiting this condition may be repaired by replacement of both front strut mounts with appropriate mounts available from GMSPO, following applicable shop manual procedure.
Use applicable labor operation number and time.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
