AIR CONDITIONER HIGH PRESSURE SERVICE PORT
If a high side pressure reading is required for diagnostics, remove the high side-high pressure control switch from the compressor-condensor hose assembly. The wiring harness MUST REMAIN CONNECTED to the switch. The switch port may then be used for high side gage fitting for diagnostics.
Do not use the port on the liquid line as this is now a low side port with the expansion tube located in the condensor.
Carefully reinstall the hi-side pressure cut-out switch to avoid any refrigerant leak. If a leak occurs, the technician should check to assure that the switch O-ring is present and then use a tire valve tool to tighten down the valve. If the leak persists, evacuate the system, reinstall the switch, and recharge the system through the low side port per published procedures.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
