ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM NEW SCHEMATIC DIAGRAMS

Beginning with the 1980 SKYLARK Service Manual, Buick adopted a new electrical diagnostic system which was a radical departure from the historic complete composite schematic (commonly referred to as a "bed sheet"). This new system provides considerably more information in a much simplified format; thus, should greatly aid diagnosis of electrical system (circuits).

Since this is an entirely new approach which was extended to all series in 1983, it is important to become completely familiar with the content and how to use it. To aid in this effort, a comprehensive introduction is included in the beginning of the 8A Section of the Chassis Service Manual. Additionally, in November, 1982, Buick developed and distributed a Know-How in-dealership training program, KH-52, titled Electrical Diagnostic Schematics to subscribing dealers. Course 18001.01, Electrical Diagnosis Simplified is a so available for scheduling at the GM aining Center.

This new diagnostic system is only effective if the user understands how to use it properly.
