A subjective rating scale has been developed to improve communication of vehicle performance of disturbances and provide a rating of these conditions. This rating scale is a subjective method of rating a condition and should be used only when state of the art or other circumstances prevent usage of objective evaluation methods.
The PERFORMANCE Section of the scale should be used to rate such items as ride, handling, radio performance, etc.
The DISTURANCE Section of the scale should be used to rate such items as axle noise, shake, wind noise, and tire roughness.
The 'O' Section is to be used to indicate that a component is not functioning, not on the vehicle, etc. and, therefore, cannot be rated.
When discussing potential customer concerns with General Motors wholesale personnel, the Subjective Rating Scale card should be utilized to evaluate performance or disturbance conditions from a customer's standpoint.
This rating system is being provided in order to establish a common basis of evaluation between Dealership and General Motors personnel.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
