This bulletin is being revised to correct the part numbers for the power window lift actuator motors. Please discard bulletin 88-10-55 and replace it with 88-10-55A.
Some 1988 Buicks may exhibit power window motors that start out as intermittent operation and eventually are inoperative. The motors are intermittent or inoperative due to restricted brushes making intermittent contact with the armature commutator.
If this condition exists, follow the diagnostic procedures in Section 8A of the Service Manual to determine if the switch, wiring, etc. is operating correctly. If the diagnostics show to replace the motor, replace with the following service part numbers:
VEHICLE WINDOW LOCATION SERVICE PART NUMBER ------- --------------- ------------------- Electra/Park Avenue/LeSabre Rear 22062567 - R. H. 22062568 - L. H.
Regal Front 22087325 - R. H. 22087326 - L. H.
Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
