IN-PAN OIL FILTER REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE

IN-PAN ENGINE OIL FILTER REPLACEMENT

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1987 "N" CAR WITH 2,5L ENGINE (VIN CODE U) AND MANUAL TRANSMISSION 1988 "N" CAR WITH 2.5L ENGINE (VIN CODE U) AND AUTO. OR MANUAL TRANS. 1988 "A" AND "P" CAR WITH 2.5L ENGINE (VIN CODE R) AND AUTOMATIC OR MANUAL TRANSMISSION

When servicing 2.5L engines with the oil filter located in the oil pan, please be aware of the following recommended service procedure:

1. Remove oil pan drain plug.

2. Remove oil filter with pliers or vise-grips. Let oil drain completely.

3. Slowly turn filter to begin removal and pull downward. ------ 4. Check for presence of "O" ring on used filter. If not on the filter, check inside the oil filter housing on the engine.

5. Coat "O" ring and grommet inner bead on new filter with clean motor oil.

6. Press fit new filter (P/N 25012305; A-C Type PF1072) into housing by hand.

7. Wipe oil pan drain plug gasket with clean cloth and coat with clean motor oil.

8. Reinstall oil pan drain plug and tighten 1/4 turn after gasket contacts pan.

9. With engine oil at proper operating level, run engine and check plug for leaks. Check oil level.
