Some comments have been received that some cluster lens assemblies are being broken due to improper technique when removing the cluster trimplate. Please adhere to the following cluster trimplate removal procedure to avoid damage to the cluster lens assembly:
1. Use your fingers to pry the trimplate up at the bottom through the two telltale windows (See Figure 1). Do not pull with your arms, but pry with your fingers, pushing against the lens assembly.
2. Slide your fingers to the very bottom of the telltale windows and pop the trimplate straight out (See Figure 2).
This bulletin is for information only.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
