HARD SPOT ON SPLIT BENCH SEAT (INSTALL 1 IN. THICK FOAM PAD)

SUBJECT: COMFORT ISSUE FOR SPLIT BENCH FRONT SEAT (AM8) HARD SPOT (INSTALL FOAM PAD)

MODELS AFFECTED: 1992 SKYLARK SEDAN WITH AM8 (BENCH SEAT)

CONDITION:

---------- Owners of some 1992 Skylark sedans equipped with front split bench seats may comment on a hard spot in the left rear area of the driver seat cushion or the right rear area of the passenger seat cushion.

CAUSE:

------ Lower portion of seat recliner mechanism being felt through the seat cushion.

CORRECTION:

----------- Install a 1" thick x 12" square medium density foam pad (P/N 16727788) between the center rear of the front seat frame and seat cushion using the following procedure:

1. Remove driver or passenger front seat from vehicle. Refer to Service Manual for procedure.

2. Turn seat upside down and insert foam pad between center rear portion of seat frame and seat cushion. Refer to Service Manual for seat cover removal procedure.

Parts are expected to be available on 03/16/92. In case of limited inventory, parts will be placed on 400 control to waive VIP surcharges. Only verifiable emergency VIP orders will be accepted. SPO will make every effort to obtain parts. However, the part will be shipped premium transportation at dealer's expense and all other order types will be placed on backorder until the 400 control is removed.
