---------- Some owners of 1992 "N" car coupes may comment about a high door closing effort.
------ Misalignment or trim interference.
----------- 1. Open door for visual check at belt and feature line for height of door to quarter panel.
-If belt and feature line are low to quarter, check for striker drag by lifting handle while opening and closing door. Door may be riding down on the striker. Adjust striker so door matches belt and feature line on quarter if possible. As a last result, realign door so belt and feature line match.
-If belt or feature line are high to quarter, check for striker drag by lifting handle while opening and closing door. Door may be riding up on the striker. Adjust striker so door matches belt and feature line on quarter if possible. As a last result, realign door so belt and feature line match.
-If header is not within +/- 1.0mm, finesse header. See Figure 1, Section 13.
2. Check outer door seal for expulsion - if it exists, check for improperly installed weatherstrip and glue flanges as necessary with weatherstrip adhesive. See Figure 2.
3. If belt and feature line match, and door does not ride on striker, realign door lock striker outboard (not to exceed flushness +1.5mm). See Figure 1, Section 14.
4. Locate and check witness mark(s) on lock striker. If mark(s) are located near or at top of striker, 1 shim is needed, If mark(s) is (are) located near or at bottom of striker, remove 1 shim. (Each shim = 2mm) See Figures 3 and 4.
5. Check for witness mark(s) and interference between interlock striker and clevis.
-If witness mark(s) is (are) on the edge of the clevis, add a shim to the interlock striker.
6. Check for door trim to garnish or I/P interferences.
7. Check for witness mark(s) on the TOP INSIDE of the clevis and top of the interlock striker. If they appear, adjust interlock striker up or downward so there is no interference.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
