THIS BULLETIN IS TO DISCOURAGE TECHNICIANS FROM BREAKING THE MIG WELDS ON THE UPPER (RT. & LT.) HOOD HINGES TO REMOVE THE HOOD.
SOME OF THE ABOVE VEHICLES WERE PRODUCED WITH A SINGLE 6MM (1/4 INCH) MIG WELD ATTACHING EACH OF THE UPPER HOOD HINGES TO THE HOOD.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT - 1. RAISE HOOD. INSTALL PROTECTIVE COVERING OVER FENDERS TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO PAINT. 2. ENGINE COMPARTMENT LAMP (IF APPLICABLE). 3. TOP VENT GRILLE PANEL. REFER TO SERVICE PROCEDURE IN SECTION 10-5 OF THE APPROPRIATE SERVICE MANUAL. 4. HOOD OPEN ASSIST RODS (IF APPLICABLE). 5. PIVOT BOLTS (1) - (SEE ATTACHED ILLUSTRATION). 6. HOOD ASSEMBLY WITH AID OF HELPER.
INSTALL OR CONNECT: 1. HOOD ASSEMBLY WITH AID OF HELPER AND SUPPORT HOOD. 2. PIVOT BOLTS (1) TO 30 N.M (20 LBS. FT.). 3. HOOD OPEN ASSIST RODS (IF APPLICABLE). 4. TOP VENT GRILLE PANEL. 5. ENGINE COMPARTMENT LAMP (IF APPLICABLE). 6. REMOVE PROTECTIVE COVERING, CLOSE HOOD.
