HEADLINER MODULE APPEARS TO SAG IN REAR CENTER LOCATION

REVISED: 11/08/94

THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO PROVIDE NEW PARTS INFORMATION. PLEASE DISCARD BULLETIN 431010 (GROUP REFERENCE 10 - BODY). ----------------------------------------------------------------------

SUBJECT: HEADLINER MODULE APPEARS TO SAG IN REAR CENTER LOCATION (APPLY ADHESIVE TO HEADLINER MODULE)

MODELS: 1994 BUICK SKYLARK

CONDITION:

SOME HEADLINER MODULES MAY EXHIBIT A SAGGING CONDITION LOCATED AT THE REAR CENTER OF THE ROOF.

CAUSE:

THE REAR LOCATOR CLIP TO THE HEADLINER MODULE WAS POSITIONED IMPROPERLY ON SOME VEHICLES. SINCE THE HEADLINER MODULE IS INSTALLED BACK TO FRONT IN PRODUCTION, IT HAS TO BE PULLED FORWARD TO OBTAIN A PROPER FIT IN THE FRONT. THIS FORWARD PULL THEN CAUSES THE REAR HEADLINER TO SAG.

CORRECTION:

1. THE HEADLINER MODULE SHOULD BE DETACHED FROM THE REAR LOCATING CLIP LOCATED IN THE BACK CENTER PORTION OF THE HEADLINER.

2. 3M PRONTO ADHESIVE, "CA-50 JELL INSTANT ADHESIVE" (ALTERNATIVE ADHESIVE - LOCTITE JEL SUPER GLUE, GM P/N 12345632, OR EQUIVALENT MEETING GM SPECIFICATION 9985337) SHOULD BE APPLIED TO THE AREA WHERE THE HEADLINER WILL NATURALLY CONTACT THE LOCATING CLIP.

3. THE HEADLINER SHOULD BE PRESSED IN PLACE FOR 10 - 20 SECONDS IN ORDER FOR THE ADHESIVE TO SET.

IF THE HEADLINER MODULE IS DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THIS CONDITION, A NEW HEADLINER SHOULD BE INSTALLED. REFER TO SECTION 10-9, "ROOF", IN THE SERVICE MANUAL FOR REPAIR PROCEDURE.
