Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Drain the engine oil.
  3. Drain and recover the coolant. Refer to Coolant Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  4. Remove the flywheel housing.
  5. Remove the right front wheel and tire assembly.
  6. Remove the right splash shield.
  7. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  8. Remove the A/C compressor lower bolts. Refer to SECTION 1B.

  10. Remove the transmission to the engine brace.

  11. Object Number: 60247  Size: SH
  12. Remove the engine mount strut bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
  13. Remove the radiator outlet pipe bolts.
  14. Remove the radiator outlet pipes from the oil pan.

  15. Object Number: 33609  Size: SH
  16. Remove the exhaust manifold brace.
  17. Remove the oil pan to the flywheel cover bolt and nut.
  18. Remove the flywheel cover stud for clearance.
  19. Remove the radiator outlet pipe from the lower radiator hose and oil pan.
  20. Remove the oil level sensor connector.

  22. Remove the oil pan bolts.
  23. Remove the oil pan.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 33652  Size: SH
  1. Install the oil pan
  2. Place the spacer in its approximate installed location but allow clearance to tighten the pan bolt directly above the spacer.

  3. Object Number: 60805  Size: SH
  4. Tighten the oil pan bolts.
  5. Tighten

        • (1) (M8 X 1.25 X 80) 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
        • (2) (M8 X 1.25 X 22) 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
        • (3) (M6 X 1.00 X 25) 12 N·m (106 lb in).
        • (4) 26 N·m (19 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Position the spacer into its proper location and install the stud.
  7. Install the oil pan to the transmission nut.
  8. Install the oil level sensor connector.
  9. Install the radiator outlet pipe to the lower radiator hose and oil pan.

  11. Install the exhaust manifold brace.
  12. Install the radiator outlet pipes to the oil pan.
  13. Install the radiator outlet pipe bolts. Refer to SECTION 6B.
  14. Install the engine mount strut bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement .
  15. Install the transmission to the engine brace.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft) in sequence.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  17. Install the A/C compressor bolts. Refer to SECTION 1B.
  18. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  19. Install the right splash shield.
  20. Install the right front wheel and tire assembly. Refer to SECTION 3E.
  21. Install the flywheel housing or transmission converter cover. Refer to SECTION 7B.
  22. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Coolant Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  23. Fill the crankcase with oil.
  24. Connect the negative battery cable.
