Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
in General Information.Important: The automatic transmission crankshaft balancer must not be installed on a manual transmission equipped engine.
Notice: Do not use the J 36660 Torque Angle Meter to rotate the retaining bolt an additional 90 degrees. The torque capacity of the tool will be exceeded and damage to the tool will result.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 175 N·m (129 lb ft) while
using J 38122-A
to prevent
crankshaft rotation. Put a mark on the socket next to one of the four marks
on J 38122-A
. This mark will
represent the 0 degree point. Tighten the bolt by rotating the socket
clockwise 90 degrees. At 90 degrees the socket will index with
the next mark on the tool.
