  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF for 5 seconds.
  2. Observe the THEFT SYSTEM indicator.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
    • The engine is off.
    • The THEFT SYSTEM indicator is illuminated.
    • The SDL Monitor Mode displays the following settings:
       - The VTD Moding function is NOT SET. Instrument Cluster to PCM
   • The VTD Moding function is NOT SET.
   • The Reverse Rotate function is INACTIVE.
   • The VTD Password function indicates NOT RECEIVE.
       - PCM to Instrument Cluster
   - The VTD Acknowledge function indicates NO.
   - The VTD Tamper function is INACTIVE.
   - The Reference Sync function indicates NOT SYNC.

The THEFT SYSTEM indicator is illuminated.

    • The THEFT SYSTEM indicator is illuminated.
    • The engine cranks.
    • The theft system indicator remains lit.
    • The SDL Monitor Mode displays the following settings:
       - Instrument Cluster to PCM
   • The VTD Moding function is NOT SET.
   • The Reverse Rotate function is ACTIVE.
   • The VTD Password function indicates NOT RECEIVE.
       - PCM to Instrument Cluster
   • The VTD Acknowledge function indicates NO.
   • The VTD Tamper function is INACTIVE.
   • The Reference Sync function indicates NOT SYNC.

   • 

Place the gear selector in PARK (automatic transaxle)

   • 

Close the clutch start switch and depress the pedal (manual transaxle)

   • 

Turn the ignition switch to RUN.

    • The engine runs.
    • The THEFT SYSTEM indicator turns off.
    • The SDL Monitor Mode displays the following settings:
       - Instrument cluster to PCM
   • The VTD Moding function is SET.
   • The Reverse Rotate function is INACTIVE.
   • The VTD Password function indicates RECEIVE.
       - PCM to Instrument Cluster
   • The VTD Acknowledge function indicates YES.
   • The VTD Tamper function is INACTIVE.
   • The Reference Sync function indicates SYNC.

Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

    • The engine stops.
    • There is no UART communication.
