PAINT - 'SERVICE ONLY' WA NUMBERS FOR OKLAHOMA CITY AND OSHAWA NO. 1 BUILT VEHICLES WITH THE BC/CC FINISHES
1986 vehicles produced at the Oklahoma City plant are painted with the BC/CC system. Recently, the 'WA' number on the service parts identification label (S.P.I.D.) has been changed to aid in determining the correct refinish colour for these vehicles. Starting with VIN lG2AW19X7G6209924 on Chevrolet and 1G4AL353OG6455370 on Buicks, the new 'WA' numbers will appear on the S.P.I.D. label.
When refinishing all 1986/87 Oklahoma City vehicles, the corresponding refinish colour to these new 'WA' numbers must be used to achieve an acceptable colour match. To aid in identifying this plant, the eleventh position in the VIN number will be a '6'. See attached list for correct 'WA' numbers for each colour.
Follow the paint manufacturer's recommendations when repairing the BC/CC finishes.
Oshawa (Plant No. 1) - Pontiac - Oldsmobile --------------------
In January of 1986, the Oshawa Plant No. 1 changed from lacquer to the BC/CC paint system starting with VIN 2G2AF19X6G9266233 for Pontiac and 2G3AM19X8J9334081 for Oldsmobile. From SOP, (1/20/86), no 'WA' numbers were being used on S.P.I.D. label. Later production, the plant started using the lacquer 'WA'numbers. However, new WA numbers have been assigned and appear on the S.P.I.D. label starting with VIN 2G2AH19W5G9274215 for Pontiac and 2G3AM19R6G9339695 for Oldsmobile. When refinishing all BC/CC 1986/87 Oshawa Plant No. 1 production these new 'WA' numbers must be used to achieve an acceptable colour match when repairing-the BC/CC finishes.
To aid in identifying this plant, the eleventh position in the VIN number will be a '9'. See attached list for correct 'WA' number for each colour.
Follow the paint manufacturer's recommendations when repairing the BC/CC finishes.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
