The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customer may report that their LED for the PRNDL on the 2005 new crossover U Van is inoperative. Engineering has determined the cause is a misaligned gear selector cable.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Adjust the gear shift cable as instructed below.

Shift Cable Adjustment Process:

  1. Verify that steering column shift select lever is in Neutral Gear position.
  2. Verify transaxle select lever is in Neutral Gear position
  3. Install transaxle select lever cable through bracket until locking tangs on cable click into place.
  4. Install the u-shaped retainer through cable locking tangs.
  5. Snap transaxle select lever cable end onto range selector lever.
  6. Pull outwards on the adjusting tab to disengage adjuster
  7. A second person is needed to hold the shifter lever inside the vehicle in Neutral position applying pressure down towards the drive range .
  8. Wiggle the cable just before the Transaxle Shift Cable bracket (while still holding the shifter lever), let the cable stabilize and then push in on the adjusting tab to lock adjuster into place.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
