Subject: | Service Information Regarding 2005 U-Vans and New 2005 Crossover Van |
Models: | . |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.
Dealers may report that SI is unable to determine the difference between the GMT201 and the GMT200 vans if the VIN alone is entered. General Motors manufactured the GMT200 UVan and new GMT201 Crossover UVans in series and there is no clean VIN break.
The only way to separate the GMT200 from the new GMT201 Crossover UVan is by the eight digit of the VIN (engine code). The GMT200 has an E (3.4L) and the GMT201 has an L (3.5 L). One should build the vehicle by make, model and year instead of using the VIN itself. Service information will be changed in the future to reflect the differences, using the entire VIN.
