The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
After servicing or replacing the PSD assembly on the crossover U-Van follow the below listed steps to ensure the proper tension on the cables. Failure to follow the steps will result in damage to the unit.
Recommendation/Instructions:
New initial adjusting procedure consists of :
- Electrically disable doors by removing fuse #21 psd fuse in the IP fuse block
- Remove the tail lamp assembly and center roller bracket cover trim
- Disconnect the rear center roller bracket from the door by removing the pin
- Remove the cover at the rear roller assembly behind the tail lamp held on with one torx screw
- Remove the cable from the rear roller to supply enough cable to remove the center roller bracket. Disconnect cables from and remove center roller bracket
- Reinstall cable to rear roller and guide
- With tech standing at the center of rear wheel, grab both cables and pull them towards each other (You will notice that the barrels on the end of the cables will not pull past each other)
- Let the cables snap back quickly
- Pull both cables again , you should now be able to pull cables past each other, slowly release cables, the barrels at the end of the cables should now be overlapping approximately 1 inch in the rest position. If barrels do not overlap one inch after
relieving tension repeat steps 7 and 8 until they overlap
- Reinstall cables to the center roller bracket
- Move the center roller bracket toward the front of the vehicle while keeping tension on the rear cable with the other hand, you should hear a snap or click and the cable should automatically be adjusted up into the psd module assembly. (You may have
to Move the center roller bracket back and forth a couple of times while keeping tension on the cable with other hand to get it to adjust)
- Move the center roller bracket back and forth two times to make sure the cable is taut
- Reinstall center roller bracket to door by installing pin
- Follow SI document 1539051 for proper re-initialization procedure
- Operate door to verify adjustment·····
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
