Attention: | This condition may occur after an exchange radio from an Electronic Service Center has been installed in the vehicle and the customer subsequently tries to use the Navigation Radio. |
Some customers may comment that the radio display will read "CD Error" when trying to install the Navigation Disc. The concern may happen every time the Navigation Disc is installed, after an ignition cycle, or it may be intermittent.
• | Inspect the surface of the Navigation Disc and make sure that the disc is free of scratches, dirt and fingerprints. |
• | If you are not sure of the condition of the Navigation Disc, try a disc from a known good vehicle. |
• | Also make sure the customer is using the correct part number Navigation Disc. |
• | If the radio still displays a "CD Error" message, new Navigation Radio software may be required. It is recommended that the customer order a new 2008 Navigation Disc through the GM Navigation Disc Center. This 2008 Navigation disc contains updated navigation information as well as software to correct this displayed CD error message. |
• | Loading the new 2008 Navigation Disc, which includes the software update, into the Radio and performing the software update will take approximately 10 minutes. The radio will display on screen instructions. |
• | If the customer requests assistance in loading the new Navigation Disc into the Radio and performing the software update, offer to perform the task on their behalf. |
• | If the customer refuses to order a new 2008 Navigation Disc for their usage, contact your District Service Manager (DVM) for direction on a dealership owned 2008 Navigation Disc. |
