Condition

Some customers may comment on a noisy or inoperative Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) mode actuator. Others may comment that the heated seats and/or the rear defroster/defogger may turn off with activation of the rear power windows.

Correction

Important: Do not turn the ignition key off when "Programming Successful" appears on the Tech 2®. The HVAC control module will be performing an actuator calibration process and the Air Conditioning (Snowflake) button will be flashing. Wait until the button stops flashing, it may take up to 60 seconds. If the self calibration is interrupted, it will be necessary to perform the calibration process again. Refer to the Re-Calibrating Actuators procedure in SI (Document ID #1538851) for more information.

Technicians are to reprogram the HVAC control head with an updated software calibration. This new service calibration was released with TIS satellite data update version 7.0 available June 27, 2005. This release also includes Tech 2® update version 23.007. Your Tech 2® must be updated to this version or later to perform the HVAC control module updates on these vehicles.
