Some owners of 1987-1992 Allantes may comment on a sticking driver or passenger door requiring additional effort to push or pull the door open. When this condition occurs, the door will require additional effort to open regardless if you try the outside door handle or the inside door handle. The condition is caused by a misaligned striker in combination with a build up of dirt, brass powder, dried lubricant, etc. on the door striker pin and mating striker hole.
To repair this condition check striker alignment and align if necessary. Then, clean the striker pin and striker hole of all contaminants and do not re-lubricate. The Allante striker pin and striker are designed to operate without any lubricant! Adding lubricant may temporarily fix a sticky door, but the lubricant will collect dirt and brass powder on the pin causing a come back.
A misadjusted inside lock rod may cause a similar condition but it only occurs when using the inside door handle. Refer to Service bulletin T-91-27, Group 10, for more details.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
